Former Raven McCrary "failed rehab" according to his estranged wife

OWINGS MILLS — Former Baltimore Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary has been accused of domestic violence by his wife, Mary McCrary, according to Maryland judiciary court records.

According to the filing, Mary McCrary filed a complaint against her husband on Friday in Baltimore County District Court and was granted a temporary protective order by a judge.

Mary McCrary has alleged that the retired NFL player had a gun during a confrontation and threw a kitchen stool at her. And she accused him of being violent and having “failed rehab.”

The order states that Michael McCrary "shall not abuse, threaten, contact or attempt to contact" his wife.A temporary hearing on the matter is set for Monday with another hearing scheduled for next Friday.The couple is going through a messy divorce and are involved in a custody battle for a six-year old daughter.

McCrary was a two-time Pro Bowl defensive end who registered 71 career sacks.

McCrary is a member of the Ravens’ Ring of Honor as he was inducted after his retirement.McCrary also played for the Seattle Seahawks.

McCrary has been recognized for his work off the field with children in need.

Since retiring, McCrary has struggled with severe knee problems and has had bouts with depression and intense pain stemming from his playing days.

Court records reveal he has been a plaintiff and a defendant in several business lawsuits.Undersized for a defensive end, McCrary was a relentless pass rusher who played the game with reckless abandon.
